Gundula Schatz has been dealing with natural sciences and modern technologies for the past 18 years. After successfully completing her studies of biotechnology with a focus on genetic engineering, she engaged with the issue of climate change, working in the field for the Federal Ministry of Environment, Youth and Family. She then joined Tech Gate co., where she helped build Vienna's biggest science and technology park in a leading position.
Subsequently, she worked for one of the most renowned patent attorney firms in Vienna and became active in the political arena. From 2001 to 2005 she was deputy mayor for the first district of Vienna.
She is the founder and director of the Waldzell Institute, initiator and manager of the "Architects of the Future" program, member of the Global Council on Conscious Economies, Corporate Responsibility and Economic Justice as well as Ambassador of the World Wisdom Council.
Her special interest lies in the development of a truly holistic view and way of life. She focuses on how we as humans can develop both individually and at societal level so as to be better prepared for the burning and serious challenges of the future. For her, Waldzell is a way to fill the theories identified with life and to bring about real change. The initiative "Architects of the Future" whereby she supports and encourages young, truly extraordinary leaders of a new, more human and more sustainable society, is specially dear to her heart.
