Gabriela
Enrigue, Co-founder of CREA and Executive Director of PROSPERA is born in Guadalajara and received
her Master in Public Policy from UC Berkeley. Over the past 10 years, Gabriela
has analyzed expansion plans, found new business lines and overcome cash flow
constraints for the family logistics company. Since June 2008, Gabriela has
been consulting for the World Bank in the Finance and Private Sector
Development Group. Gabriela led Doing Business in Mexico Evaluation where she
worked with the economic development agencies of all 31 states in the country
as well the National Institute for Competitiveness in Mexico.
Leticia M.
Jáuregui Casanueva is Co-founder and President of Crea. She
completed her master degrees in Community Development,
Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University
of California, Davis. Leticia was selected as one of the top
social entrepreneurs in the world by Echoing Green, being awarded their 2008
Fellowship. She has presented her work on remittances and micro
enterprise development at the WhartonSchool of business, the
Institute for Mexicans Abroad and the OECD amongst others.
Crea serves
Mexican female-led micro enterprises, focusing primarily on the manufacturing
sector of food, handmade products and accessories. Crea provides
knowledge,
sales channels and mentoring by migrant entrepreneurs to these micro enterprises
to help them grow, become sustainable and compete in larger markets. Crea
seeks to innovation to build up local economies by tackling the causes of
migration and not migration per se so that women can become a source of
employment creation and migration can be a rare choice rather than a
basic need.
